Innovation and Advantages of GRP by Solido
Solido products are designed and manufactured entirely in-house using proprietary technologies. All products are certified by the Egyptian National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage and the Egyptian National Research Center. With a strong customer base across the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, we tailor our solutions to meet diverse regulations and specific market needs.
What is GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic)?
GRP is a composite material made by reinforcing plastic with fiberglass—fine strands of glass woven or chopped into mats. Fiberglass is known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, resistance to corrosion, and non-conductive properties. When combined with resins and molded through precise techniques, the result is a versatile material that maintains its integrity in the harshest environments.
Thanks to fiberglass, GRP products are:
- Lightweight but extremely strong
- Corrosion-resistant, even in humid or chemical-rich environments
- Non-conductive, making them safe for electrical applications
- Flexible in design, offering unlimited shape and color possibilities
This makes fiberglass-reinforced plastics ideal for infrastructure, utility, and industrial applications where both durability and safety are critical.
BMC Technology (Bulk Moulding Compound)
At Solido, we use advanced BMC technology to manufacture covers for manholes, drainage systems, and inspection chambers. This process involves molding a blend of fiberglass, resins, and fillers under high pressure (up to 250 bar) and temperature (up to 770°C). The result is a consistent, high-performance product that surpasses traditional, manually-made alternatives.
Key Advantages of GRP Covers Made with BMC Technology:
- Compliant with European and Egyptian standards
- High resistance to impact, chemicals, and abrasion
- No corrosion, unlike metal covers
- No resale value—unattractive to thieves
- Long lifespan with minimal maintenance
- Fire-retardant and non-recyclable for added safety
- Excellent heat and sound insulation
- Non-conductive and suitable for electrical environments
- Precisely manufactured for secure, low-clearance installation
